IMPORTANT UPDATE - October 2024

We are well into October and there are so many great things going on within our schools, both in the classrooms and in the extra-curricular activities.  Volleyball, cross-country, golf – athletics are in full swing, and our students are representing our schools well.  I’ve talked to more than one parent who is trying hard to keep up with their students, some going to two or three different tournaments in a day!

Things have also been very busy in the Society office.  Alongside the beginning of the school year, the Bits & Bytes golf tournament was held last month and was a great success.  We are currently in the middle of our annual audit and Benita and Jason have been working alongside the accountant as they prepare the audited financials for the Fall Society meeting on November 25.

It is usually amid all of this activity and busyness that planning for the annual Fall Fundraiser is also beginning.   However, through conversation with the planning committee, Society and school staff and the Society board, the decision has been made to move this annual fall event to the spring.

Hosting this event in the spring comes with many benefits, including not having back-to-back fundraisers in the fall.  We acknowledge that having the fall fundraiser immediately following the golf tournament can lead to donor fatigue, as it means we’re asking for financial support twice in a row.  The later date will also allow our new-to-Immanuel families to have some time to become more familiar with our community before we ask them to jump in and volunteer/attend, as well as helping our school families not have to work around busy athletics schedules.

This event in the spring will also be replacing the Friends of Immanuel dinner, which has historically taken place in March, but has seen declining attendance over the past several years.  We are looking forward to being able to gather as a community at this "not-fall" fundraiser, in addition to the multiple community events that will take place during Christian Education Week (May 12-16).

We’re excited to plan this well-loved community event, with all the parts we love – KidZone, baked goods, Dutch groceries, lunch, auction – for Saturday, April 5, 2025.  Mark your calendars and plan to be there as we get together as a school community to enjoy each other’s company and support Immanuel Christian Schools.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call me or stop by the Society office – my door is always open.
